A new low...

The weight is probably at a new high - but I neglected (!) to weigh myself this week. Maybe next week.

I had a lot of outside (read: paid!) work on this week. I had good intentions of getting out there and running - I even laid out my gear and set my alarm so I could get up and go. Alas, it is Sunday morning and there the clothes sit, lonely, abandoned; as they have all week. Getting toothpaste dripped on them.

The food/diet area has been very up and down too. I made too many "sometimes" food choices. Just this week I have enjoyed:
  • Aportos chicken (it was a wrap - is that OK?)
  • Dominos pizza (they ran out of Thin & Crispy bases - how does a major pizza chain "run out" of bases?)
  • McDonalds
interpersed with:
  • vegetarian quiche and salad
  • steak and salad (and chips)
  • chicken and veges

OK. What's a girl to do? I think I need a goal. I need hubby to decide for sure that we either not be accompanying him on the Alice Springs conference or that he won't be going either. Then I (or we) could enter the Sydney Running Festival Bridge Run. And do the training program. Maybe I should train as if I'm going to do  it, regardless.

Might be time.

If you have had a "slump" what did you do to overcome it??

  1. Do you have a running club near you? I find running/working out in a group is good fun and great for motivation. Different fitness levels are catered for as the fast runners go ahead and double back for the slow runners (like me!!). I also find that when I run with a group I push myself way harder and faster than I do when I run on my own - which gives me a real buzz when finished!. Also if you are part of a group and people are expecting you to turn up you are less likely to hit the snooze button! Hang in there Ingi, you will get there. We all have our slumps. I think setting yourself a goal, like the Sydney Running Festival, is a great start! :)

  2. Thank you for the interspersed good nutrition and less-good nutrition comment! Because that is so often what I find myself doing! F'rinstance, today I went with hubby to the Dunkin Donuts (gasp!) and I had a sensible-ish multigrain bagel (yummy!) with plain cream cheese (oops!). But the rest of the day I cooked in and we ate quite healthfully, some sandwiches stuffed with cucumber slices and avocado and stuff, and turkey burgers this evening. I'm telling myself I don't want to feel deprived, and at the same time, I would rather be fit and trim, than always have the favorite dessert that I want!
